Board of Directors

Ramon Galvan:
Born and raised in a farming community in Argentina. Self-taught electronics and English. Retired from computer industry. Bilingual in Spanish. Extensive experience in customer service, problem resolution and volunteer activities. Currently working part time as a medical interpreter and freelance translator. Master Gardener since 2000.

Anita Rojas:
Raised in the mountains of Nayarit, Mexico. Anita has been a licensed midwife for over 20 years and has broad knowledge of medicinal herbs and health issues. She has worked as a medical interpreter (Spanish) for over 15 years and is a phlebotomist. She is a co-founder of Sacred Waters Birthing Center where she is currently employed.

Francisco Sam Pedro:
Born and raised in the countryside of Oaxaca, Mexico. He has worked in many different factories, has a lot of experience as a painter, in restaurants as a chef and the designing of layouts of motor homes. He has been working in the community garden and is currently self-employed in landscaping and maintenance. Francisco has been a participant of Huerto de la Familia for over 8years.

Mary Farrington:
Raised in Colorado. She has worked as a professional grant writer for 20 years and works at the University of Oregon as a professional fundraiser. Mary has a BA in Social Work, a Masters in Anthropology and became a Master Gardener in 1995.


Staff

Sarah Cantril- MSW, Executive Director:
Raised in the San Francisco bay area and a resident of Eugene since 1985. Sarah has a masters degree in Social Work Administration and has worked as a social worker with Latino families since 1991. She is bilingual and a Master Gardener since the year 2000. She is the founder and Executive Director of Huerto de la Familia.

Carl Berg - Independent Contractor: Farm Consultant and Trainer
Carl was raised on an organic farm in Alvadore, where he continues to farm today and is the owner of Berg's Berries.

Daniel Romero - Garden Program Assistant/Site Manager
Raised in Puerto Rico, Daniel has been active in community volunteer work in Eugene in recent years and worked as an intern at Seeds of Change in New Mexico.
