Ramon Galvan - President and acting Treasurer:

Born and raised in a farming community in Argentina.  Self-taught electronics and English.  Retired from computer industry.   Bilingual in Spanish.   Extensive experience in customer service and problem resolution.  Active volunteer, from guide for blind skiers to interpreter for medical missions.  Currently working part time as a medical interpreter.  Master Gardener volunteer since 2000.

Marcia Koenig -Secretary:

Raised in Venezuela and the United States.  Has lived in Chile and traveled in Mexico and Central America.BA in Psychology, minor in Spanish and Peace Studies.  Fifteen years of experience serving immigrant populations, mostly Latinos.  Work in non-profits with the non-profit Immigration Legal Services in California.  Works in the Migrant Education Program.

Mary Farrington - board member:

Raised in Colorado. She has worked as a professional grant writer for 20 years and works at the University of Oregon as a professional fundraiser. Mary has a BA in Social Work, a Masters in Anthropology and became a Master Gardener volunteer in 1995.

Beatriz Robles Loper - board member:

Beatriz Robles Loper grew up in Mexico and earned her Bachelor?s degree in Linguistics
and Master?s degree in Foreign Language Education from the Universidad Aut¢noma de Guadalajara. She has designed curricula for teaching Spanish at the beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels and has trained and supervised language teachers.  In keeping with the belief that understanding a language requires knowledge of the culture from which it springs, Beatriz also designs and teaches cultural awareness courses.
Corporate executives, teachers, agency administrators, and others have benefited from
her work and expertise.  She is active as a Spanish translator and editor in Lane County. In addition to conducting her own business, Crosscultural Now (crossculturalnow.com), she is an adjunct professor with the Education Department at Pacific University and she
has volunteered with a number of Lane County organizations.

Jorge Navarro - board member:

Raised in Los Angeles, California, is a first generation Mexican American.
He has worked with the Latino community for over 40 years. His experience includes
having been Executive Director of Centro Latino Americano, a drug and alcohol
counselor, gambling counselor, a pre-school teacher, musician, sound engineer, and
owner of a small restaurant, Cafe Navarro. He has volunteered for many local organizations in Eugene and Springfield.He is currently working as Co Director of Programs and Development for Community Alliance of Lane County.

Staff

Sarah Cantril- MSW, Executive Director:
Raised in the San Francisco Bay area and a resident of Eugene since 1985. Sarah has a masters degree in Social Work Administration and has worked as a social worker with Latino families since 1991. She is bilingual and a Master Gardener volunteer since the year 2000. She is the founder and Executive Director of Huerto de la Familia.

Daniel Romero - Garden Program Assistant/Site Manager
Raised in Puerto Rico, Daniel has been active in community volunteer work in Eugene in recent years and worked as an intern at Seeds of Change in New Mexico.
